Calling bullshit: learn how to spot bullshit for yourself and refute bullshit for others
The most important thing we learn in education and research is often not the knowledge itself but critical thinking. Critical thinking helps us to call out both delusions and pure bullshit; it gives us a too-good-to-be-true alarm and a compass that controls emotions and helps us to stay the course in an otherwise difficult-navigated information world. For example, climate change, vaccination, and genetically modified food are three crucial areas where common misconceptions contradict science.
Building on the work by Carl Bergstrom and Jevin West, I visit schools and organizations and present tools that help you spot bullshit for yourself and refute bullshit for others.
